So Scary!!

Well, our girl has been healing nicely. After finding out she didn't need the surgery that was originally expected, we've been letting her heal and rest, as the surgeon explained. Sigh of relief, right? I mean, that was a close call! She does have multiple broken bones in her foot (with the distal fibula being the surgical scare), and a clean break in her radial bone. That's enough broken trauma for anyone. You'd think we're due some healing!
However, our poor girl had a recent scare. Life can sure be rough! We got a text, a day ago from a frightened Dana. She explained she couldn't breathe or swallow. Nick and I jumped up, threw breakfast to the side, got dressed, and immediately headed to Dana. Once we got inside, we found Dana in bed, teary eyed, and miserable. She could barely talk, and couldn't swallow at all.
We rushed her to urgent care, and they did a strep test. The nurse practitioner examined her and gave us papers to take her to ER with. She explained that she believed that our poor Dana has an abscess on her tonsil that would need to be drained in ER. Poor Dana was so exhausted from zero sleep the night before, being broken from the accident, and now being immediately rushed around, she couldn't even keep her eyes open.
This may sound odd, but fortunately, we were in the hospital for six hours. Dana slept through most of it, only to wake during CT scan, IV insertion, and removal. This poor girl does not take to needles well, but as nervous as they make her, her curious nature forced her to keep freaking herself out by looking at the process happening in her arm off and on. We got some pretty good laughs from it for sure.
When we finally got the results, the doctor came in and confirmed our suspicions. Severe strep throat and tonsillitis had hit our girl. She was given a good antibiotic drip, intravenously and a prescription for antibiotic pills for home. We got her fixed up and feeling better immediately. I love easy and good endings.
Life, am I right?
