First and foremost, community support for Dana's recovery has been unwavering. Everyone that has been donating monetary help, meals, paper products, essentials, furniture, their time and visits, prayers, dog food, dog items, and advice. You guys are the true heroes of this unfolding healing progress report. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
In life, we share this planet with so many. We can live our lives without even realizing who our very neighbors are. Busy schedules, family events, keeping up with friends, daily routines, and a plethora of other reasons creating reasons why we live day by day in our own tunnel vision. However, one post from a very sweet, brave and independent young lady at her most broken, reaching out for help, changed the normalcy of many people's routines.
Dana, as many of you know, was hit by a car while walking. This was a hit-and-run incident without any witnesses. She has suffered many broken bones and lacerations. She can not work, search for work, or do many of the average daily things that we take for granted. Many have invested in her well-being, and so a progress report will be periodically made, such as this very one.
Recent updates as of March 25, 2025: Dana has been using her wheelchair more and more, and you can tell how strong willed and independent she is by watching her do this small action. She has a hard time asking and receiving help, but she acknowledges the need for it right now. Once helped and properly positioned in the wheelchair, she maneuvers it like a champ.
However, the sutures have been irritating her laceration wounds and causing the start of an infection in one area. She has no movement or control of her broken foot/ankle, and if the boot is taken off for cleaning, it needs support immediately. She doesn't like the way it feels on the broken foot bones on top, and her bruises are many around that foot.
She complained to Tasheika and I about waking up crying in pain, yesterday, March 24, 2025. We all drove over there to assess the situation. It seemed under control for a bit, and Hannah brought her some food and encouragement. (name redacted for privacy) donated a wonderfully comfortable and plush chaise lounge and elevation pillow, and it's become her main comfort spot. She was sitting relaxed when another pain upset was beginning, so we ended up taking her to the hospital to have everything checked out.
This is where we stand at the present moment. Updates to follow once we know more.

Dana I am so sorry this has happened to you. I hope they catch the creep that did this to you. Always thinking about you.
